Tottenham Hotspur chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has described the club’s recent campaign as a catalyst for a ‘complete reset’, acknowledging the pain of a near‑relegation battle and the disappointment of supporters.
A season of upheaval
The north‑London side finished the Premier League season just above the relegation zone, a result that left the board and fanbase reeling. Venkatesham pointed to the club’s world‑class training centre as a foundation on which to rebuild, but stressed that structural change must start at the top.
A series of coaching changes underscored the turbulence. After Thomas Frank’s departure, Igor Tudor was installed as interim head coach but departed after only seven matches. His brief stint was followed by the arrival of Roberto de Zerbi, whose tactical imprint has already been felt positively by players and staff.
Venkatesham did not shy away from the supporters’ frustration, admitting that the club’s performance fell short of expectations and that the board shares the fans’ disappointment. He said the club is now focused on turning the page.
Central to the reset is a financial commitment: the wage ceiling will be raised to make Tottenham an attractive destination for top talent. In parallel, the club has opened talks with Borussia Dortmund’s former sporting director Sebastian Kehl, signalling a proactive approach to recruitment.
If the reset is executed with clarity and ambition, the club hopes to return to competing for European places and to restore confidence among its global fanbase.
