A New Era for Carlmont Baseball
Carlmont High School is set to break ground on a new baseball field in late May 2026, with completion targeted for February 2027. The project, overseen by the Sequoia Union High School District, will feature a multi‑sport complex that goes beyond baseball.
Athletic Director Patrick Smith emphasized that the design aims to maximize the use of available space, ensuring that the new facility can host a variety of athletic activities.
Students have voiced enthusiasm for the expanded amenities. Sophomore Anaya Misri noted that a larger complex would free players from reliance on a single main field, while sophomore Jack Lang suggested enlarging the dugouts to provide more comfort. Sophomore Kou Miwa added that a new bullpen or batting cage would enhance training opportunities.
Community Impact and Broader Use
Beyond the diamond, the field will serve soccer, football, flag football, lacrosse and other sports, helping to resolve scheduling conflicts that have long plagued the school’s athletic programs. Its flexible layout will also allow student physical‑education classes and community events to use the space.
The upgraded facility promises earlier practice times, reducing the need for late‑night sessions and giving teams more flexibility in their schedules. School officials anticipate that the shared use of the field will foster stronger ties between the campus and neighboring communities, creating a lasting legacy of accessible sports infrastructure.
