The Hoggard High School athletic program is poised for a historic week as both its girls soccer and boys lacrosse squads battle for state championships. The upcoming finals represent the first opportunity for each team to capture a title that has eluded the program until now.
Championship Matchups
On May 28 the girls soccer team will face Myers Park at Durham County Memorial Stadium. The Wildcats enter the match with a 15‑shutout streak and just one loss this spring, giving them a strong defensive foundation as they pursue the school’s first state championship.
The following day the boys lacrosse team travels to Lenoir‑Rhyne University in Hickory to meet Ardrey Kell on May 29. Senior Noah Hansen, who has scored 82 goals this season, leads a Hoggard attack that is eager to add a first‑ever state title to its record books.
Myers Park’s offense is anchored by Indiana commit Amaya Falzarano, who has already netted 25 goals, while Ardrey Kell’s junior Cole Stankavage has erupted for 89 goals this spring. Both opponents bring formidable firepower, setting the stage for tightly contested finals that could reshape local soccer and lacrosse narratives.
Guided by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, the two Hoggard squads have been celebrated for their consistency, depth and community support. The excitement surrounding the finals reflects a broader celebration of regional talent competing on the statewide stage.
