Brayden Santibanez, a 3‑star quarterback prospect out of Collierville High School in Tennessee, announced his commitment to the University of Iowa in April, joining a growing cadre of young signal‑callers in the Hawkeyes’ program.
A Dual‑Threat Arrival
Coached by Joe Rocconi, Santibanez impressed with a dual‑threat skill set that blends a strong arm and surprising mobility, a combination that Rocconi says will serve the quarterback well as he prepares for his senior season.
During his junior year he amassed 1,140 passing yards and 13 touchdowns while also rushing for 321 yards, helping Collierville score 35 points or more in 11 of 13 games in a shared‑quarterback system with Cayson Stanford.
The Iowa coaching staff will welcome him alongside other emerging quarterbacks such as Jimmy Sullivan, Ryan Fitzgerald and Tradon Bessinger, as well as returning starter Mark Gronowski, creating a competitive environment that could reshape the Hawkeyes’ offense.
Santibanez’s recruitment was bolstered by offers from power‑conference programs including the University of North Carolina, Cincinnati, Iowa State and Kansas State, underscoring the national attention his talents have attracted.
At 6‑foot‑3 and 205 pounds, he runs a 4.56‑second 40‑yard dash, a physical profile that aligns with the modern dual‑threat archetype and suggests a high ceiling for future development.
With the commitment, Iowa gains a player whose coach describes as having a high ceiling and whose best days are still ahead, a narrative that fans hope will translate into on‑field success for the Hawkeyes.
