A Coach with a Mission
Sergeant First Class Alan Ibarralepe serves dual roles as a U.S. Army Quartermaster School training instructor and the head coach of the Fort Lee Soccer Team, embodying the intersection of military rigor and sports leadership.
Ibarralepe enlisted twelve years ago, viewing the Army as an expedited pathway to citizenship and a means to provide for his family. The decision forged a new sense of belonging that continues to drive his professional and personal commitments.
His athletic résumé includes three Armed Forces Competition gold medals and two appearances with the U.S. Armed Forces Team at CISM events. He contested professional opponents at the 2015 Military World Games in Mungyeong, South Korea, and the 2019 Games in Wuhan, China, experiences that sharpened his competitive edge.
Beyond personal achievement, Ibarralepe embraces a mentorship role, guiding younger soldiers on the team with an emphasis on discipline, leadership, and consistent training. He urges players to stay competitive and pursue All‑Army Soccer tryouts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Balancing fatherhood with coaching, Ibarralepe draws parallels between raising his children and shaping his squad, using his example to inspire both his kids and his players. He believes that instilling fundamental team principles will elevate Fort Lee’s profile as a competitive program.
Through his combined duties, Ibarralepe exemplifies integrity and discipline, serving as a living testament to the Army’s values both on the field and off it.
