Colorado State’s men’s basketball team has completed its 2026‑27 roster, announcing the addition of River Sawyer, a senior guard who capped his high school career at University High School in Greeley with a Class 4A first‑team all‑state honor. Sawyer averaged 18.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game, and he led his squad to the state title contest, where he poured in 26 points and eight rebounds. He is the second Colorado player joining the Rams’ 2026‑27 roster, alongside Eric Fiedler.
A Talent‑Loaded Roster
Alongside Sawyer, the Rams will welcome freshmen Pops Dunson and Jaden Ghoreishi, while transfers Amondo Miller Jr. and Justin Menard add depth. The returning core features Carey Booth, Jase Butler, Josh Pascarelli, JoJo McIver, Rashaan Mbemba, Charlie Dortch, Kyle Jorgensen and Docker Tedeschi, giving the team a blend of experience and youthful energy.
Sawyer and Charlie Dortch are the program’s two walk‑ons, underscoring the walk‑on culture that has become a staple in Fort Collins. Head coach Ali Farokhmanesh, in his first season at the helm, guided the Rams to a 21‑13 record last year and a first‑round NIT appearance, and he now looks to build on that foundation as the team prepares for its final Mountain West campaign before transitioning to a new conference.
Looking Forward
The Rams finished the previous season with a 21‑13 record, fell in the second round of the league tournament, and were eliminated in the NIT first round by Saint Joseph’s at Moby Arena on May 18. With a roster that blends proven performers like Eric Fiedler and a host of new pieces, the club hopes to translate its recent momentum into a deeper postseason run. The blend of local talent and out‑of‑state recruits positions Colorado State to compete strongly both at home and on the road.
