Baba Oladotun’s freshman year at Maryland is shaping up to be more than a simple transition; it is a calculated launch toward the kind of impact that can reshape a program.
The 6‑10 forward, who added two inches over the past year, arrives on campus with NBA lottery buzz for the 2027 draft, a projection fueled by his size, shotmaking, mobility and playmaking ability.
After being left off the USA Basketball Men’s U18 roster, Oladotun reclassified from the 2027 to the 2026 class, a move that cleared a path to College Park and gave him a head start on building chemistry with his new peers.
He has already begun forging relationships with fellow newcomers Pharel Payne, Andre Mills and DJ Wagner, the latter of whom he met during an Arkansas visit and with whom he quickly bonded.
Oladotun says his goals are clear: compete at the highest level, contribute to winning, and make his teammates better, with a championship mindset that includes a national title and a phenomenal freshman campaign.
A Freshman With Championship Ambitions
Coach Buzz Williams sees Oladotun as one of the cornerstone recruits of his latest class, a player who can immediately influence the tempo and defensive versatility of the Terrapins.
