The Rainbow Warriors dropped the final game of their series against UC Davis, falling 3-1 in a contest that slipped away in the middle innings. Despite taking an early lead, the team could not hold the advantage as the visitors rallied.
Early Lead and Missed Chances
Tate Shimao sparked the opening surge with an RBI single in the third inning, putting Hawaii ahead before the bullpen settled in. The Warriors, however, left seven runners on base, failing to convert those opportunities into runs.
UC Davis answered in the fifth with a timely RBI single from Zach Story, knotting the game and shifting momentum.
Sixth Inning Decisiveness
The turning point arrived in the sixth when Elijah McNeal and Ethan Felix each drove in runs, giving the Aggies a lead they would not relinquish.
Brody Martin-Grudzielanek took the loss despite a strong outing that included eight strikeouts, while relievers Tsubasa Tomii and John Alkire II combined for 2.1 scoreless innings to keep the game within reach.
At the plate, Kamana Nahaku and Noah Rodriguez each contributed two hits, but the offense could not string together the needed extra-base hits to spark a comeback.
Looking Ahead
The Rainbow Warriors will now return home for their final regular‑season series against California State University, Northridge, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. in each of the three games.
