A new chapter for a rising tight end
George VanSandt, a 6‑5, 235‑pound tight end from Portland’s Central Catholic High School, originally pledged to the University of Arkansas in April, only to reopen his recruitment this week.
The prospect attracted a suite of scholarship offers from a dozen programs, including Washington State, Oregon State, Tulane, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State and others, before Oregon extended an invitation on May 7.
VanSandt’s father, Aramis VanSandt, hails from Rogers, Arkansas, adding a local connection that has drawn attention from Razorbacks coaches.
Arkansas now sits with eight verbal commitments for the 2027 class, a modest but growing haul as the staff balances the influx of new talent with the need to protect its existing pipeline.
Analysts suggest the reopening could shift the dynamics of the class, giving the Hogs a chance to fine‑tune their board while other programs eye the talented pass‑catcher.
