The Bulldogs’ postseason hopes hung in the balance when their team bus was involved in a crash on the way to the scheduled matchup against the North County Raiders. Four players sustained injuries, casting doubt on whether the team could even take the field.
Principal Paul Unterreiner later revealed that the school was uncertain about having enough healthy players to field a competitive lineup, a uncertainty that added pressure to an already tense situation.

Despite the injuries and the lingering uncertainty, the team voted to play. Their resolve paid off in dramatic fashion when they secured a walk‑off home run in the eighth inning, sealing a victory that sent them forward in the tournament.
