Back‑to‑Back Champions
Fossil Ridge High School captured its second straight Colorado 5A girls soccer state championship, finishing the season with a 70‑10 scoring margin and an 18‑1‑1 record that underscored their dominance.
Senior midfielder Reese Morgan proved the decisive factor, striking the game‑winning goal in overtime against No. 3 Castle View with a 20‑yard free kick and later adding the championship winner just six seconds into the first overtime against No. 8 Mountain Vista. Her performances earned her the 5A Player of the Year award as well as Northern Conference Player of the Year honors.
Coach Cyrus Salehi was honored with his second consecutive 5A Coach of the Year award, reflecting the program he has transformed into a juggernaut through a blend of defensive discipline and offensive creativity.
The title run also spotlighted contributions from teammates such as Mia Lorenzen and Anna Rogers, who earned 5A second‑team recognition, and the emergence of freshmen who stepped into key roles. Teagan Myers and Chris Abshire were among the supporting cast that helped maintain the squad’s depth.
Over the past three seasons under Salehi, the SaberCats have compiled a 12‑1 playoff record, blending returning veterans with new talent and positioning the program to remain a dominant force in Colorado high school soccer.
