The Gaylord girls soccer team clinched a 4-0 victory over Petoskey on May 21, a result that secured a share of the Big North Conference Championship and set the stage for a potential double title run.
Just days later the squad posted an 8-0 win against Alpena in the district semifinals on May 27, showcasing dominant offense while preparing for a rematch with Petoskey that could decide both league and district crowns.
With a final record of 15-2-1 and a goal differential of 83-14 across 18 matches, Gaylord enters the decisive game riding a perfect 9-0-1 home record at Gaylord Community Field, where the team hopes to finish the season unbeaten.
A historic milestone looms: this would be the first time the program captures both the league and district titles in the same season, a feat last achieved 18 years ago when they won their first district championship in a penalty shootout against Petoskey.
Chasing an Undefeated Finale
The upcoming clash with Petoskey promises another intense battle, as the team looks to avenge last season’s 1-0 district title loss and cement its place in school history.
