Purples Triumph in Regional Final
The Bowling Green Purples clinched the 4th Region baseball championship on Tuesday, edging the Greenwood Gators 7-5 in a tightly contested game that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Logan Johnson opened the scoring with a strong pitching performance, while Hudson Nottmeier and Landon Gilbert added timely doubles that put the Purples ahead early. The early 2-0 lead set the tone, but Greenwood answered in the third inning with runs from Kioshi Une and Corbin Johnson to level the contest at 2-2.
A burst of five runs in the fifth inning swung the momentum decisively. The Purples capitalized on a series of solid hits and aggressive base running, extending their lead to 7-2 before Greenwood could mount a comeback.
The final outs were sealed by eighth‑grader Henry Phillips, who struck out Henry Justice to lock down the victory and spark celebration among the teammates and coaching staff.

Head coach Nathan Isenberg praised the team’s resilience, noting how the players bounced back after a prior loss and maintained focus throughout the tournament. “This win is a testament to their hard work and belief in each other,” he said.
Looking ahead, Bowling Green will meet the McCracken County Mustangs in the state tournament on June 4, a matchup that promises another exciting chapter for the Purples.
