California State University, Northridge has released its 2026 women's soccer schedule, a 20‑match lineup that blends home contests with road trips across the western United States. The announcement was made by head coach Gina Brewer, who guided the Matadors to the Big West championship last season.
Home Field Advantage
The Matadors will play nine of their matches at Matador Soccer Field, giving the team a familiar environment against a diverse set of opponents. The home schedule is designed to build momentum early in the campaign and to showcase the program's growing presence on campus.
The slate includes tough competition from programs that posted winning records in the previous season. Teams such as Utah Valley, California Baptist and Sacramento State headline a list that also features two former conference champions and three NCAA Tournament participants from last year.
A Road Test Begins in Boise
The regular season opens on August 12 with a matchup against Boise State in Boise, Idaho. The exhibition against Trinity Western University kicks off the campaign on August 6, setting the stage for a demanding early schedule that will test the team's depth and resilience.
Coach Brewer emphasized that the non‑conference slate is intended to sharpen the Matadors before they enter Big West play. By confronting high‑caliber opponents early, the team hopes to carry forward the momentum that helped them capture the conference title last year.
CSUN's ultimate goal remains a repeat Big West championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The 2026 schedule, with its blend of home fixtures and challenging away games, is crafted to position the Matadors for another deep postseason run.
