Right‑hander Coleton Donaldson of Sam Houston capped the Broncos’ 2026 state title run with three no‑hit innings, allowing only two walks and fanning four. The outing highlighted his ability to close games under pressure.
Lane Dugas, representing Opelousas Catholic, delivered a seven‑inning masterpiece, posting a shutout with two hits, three walks and five strikeouts. The effort reinforced his reputation as a reliable ace for the upcoming season.
Bats that blaze
Shepherd Gammon of University Lab enjoyed a prolific week, going 5‑for‑12 with four doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored. His versatility at third base and in the outfield adds a dynamic edge to his game.
Landen Derouen from Erath put together a monster season, batting .510 with five home runs, 20 doubles, three triples, 42 RBIs and 34 runs. The shortstop’s blend of power and average has placed him among the most watched hitters in the class.
The momentum extends beyond the highlighted names. Landree Leblanc, Ory Titus, Ryan Crooks, Evan Pearce and Brayden Holloway have all moved up the rankings, signaling a deep reservoir of talent.
Summer Showcase Circuit
Louisiana’s summer calendar is packed with ID events, including the North Louisiana Summer ID, North Louisiana Rising Stars ID, Louisiana Top Prospect Games, New Orleans Rising Stars ID, New Orleans Summer ID and the Baton Rouge Summer ID. Each camp offers scouts a chance to evaluate the next wave of prospects.
With the rankings now stretching to three digits and a full slate of showcase tournaments on the horizon, the 2027 class is poised to shape the future of Louisiana baseball. The combination of elite pitching, potent hitting and structured exposure bodes well for both college recruitments and the state’s baseball legacy.
