The Indiana University men’s basketball program has locked in two non‑conference matchups for the upcoming 2026‑27 season, confirming dates and venues that had been the subject of speculation throughout the spring.
Venues and Timing
The Hoosiers will open their external schedule on November 15 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where they will meet the Kentucky Wildcats. The contest, originally slated for December, has been moved forward to early November, giving both fan bases a chance to plan ahead.
A second road test will take the team to Gainbridge Fieldhouse, also in Indianapolis, on December 5, where they will face the Syracuse Orange. The game was first reported in local media and has now been officially added to the slate.
Both venues are steeped in basketball tradition. Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts, has hosted numerous high‑profile college games, while Gainbridge Fieldhouse, formerly Bankers Life Fieldhouse, is the longtime arena of the Indiana Pacers and a familiar battleground for the Hoosiers.
Head coach Darian DeVries, who took the reins of the program last offseason, emphasized the importance of the non‑conference slate for his squad’s development. “These games give us a chance to test our identity early and build momentum before conference play,” he said in a statement released by the athletic department.
The announcements come as the university’s athletic communications office highlighted the growing partnership with local venues and the broader impact on the state’s sports tourism. Fans can purchase tickets through the official ticketing platforms associated with each venue, and the matchups will pit the Indiana Hoosiers against the Kentucky Wildcats and the Syracuse Orange, two programs with storied histories.
