A new chapter for Clemson basketball
The Atlantic Coast Conference unveiled the Tigers’ 2026‑27 slate on May 28, confirming a mix of home showdowns and road trips that will shape the team’s push for a fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
Clemson will host traditional rivals Duke, Florida State and Georgia Tech, while also welcoming Cal, Notre Dame, Stanford, Syracuse, Virginia and Wake Forest to the Littlejohn Coliseum. The schedule features 18 conference games, beginning in late December and culminating on the first Saturday of March.
For the first time since the 1950‑51 season, the Tigers will not meet North Carolina during the regular slate, a streak that ended after the ACC’s realignment reshaped matchups.
The coaching staff, led by Brad Brownell, will retain key pieces such as guards Ace Buckner and Zac Foster and center Carter Welling, while welcoming transfers and three freshmen signees to fill the gaps left by departing players Dillon Hunter, RJ Godfrey and Jake Wahlin.
Derrian Carter, a newcomer from the transfer portal, is expected to add depth, as the roster blends experience with fresh talent aiming to sustain the program’s recent momentum.
The absence of a matchup against UNC adds a narrative edge, but the team’s focus remains on executing the variable‑opponent model that guarantees two contests against Georgia Tech and Florida State, a format that has defined their recent ACC strategy.
With the schedule set and the roster taking shape, Clemson’s basketball program looks to translate its recent tournament pedigree into another March Madness run, a goal that has become a hallmark of the Tigers’ identity over the past three seasons.
The announcement was first reported by the USA TODAY Network, underscoring the growing national interest in the ACC’s competitive landscape.
