Liz Murphy, a 5‑foot‑9 guard from the rural town of Yackandandah in north‑eastern Australia, has officially committed to join the UT Arlington Lady Mavericks for the 2026‑27 season.
Her decision follows a standout high‑school career at Albury‑Wodonga, where she led her team to a perfect 20‑0 record and earned a reputation as a sharpshooter and floor leader.

Coach Shereka Wright highlighted Murphy’s shooting accuracy, basketball IQ and leadership, stating that the guard’s skill set will ‘elevate the team’s offense’ and provide a new dimension to the Lady Mavericks’ attack.
Wright noted Murphy’s impressive shooting percentages — 37.6 % from three‑point range and nearly 90 % from the free‑throw line — and pointed to her 35 made threes, which ranked second on the Akron roster.
College Experience
Murphy spent two seasons in the Mid‑American Conference playing for the University of Akron, where she averaged 6.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game last season while logging nearly ten minutes per contest.
Her shooting consistency was evident throughout her collegiate career, including a season in which she shot 37.6 % from beyond the arc and posted a free‑throw accuracy close to 90 %.
