A Double Crown Celebration
The Harvard-Westlake School community gathered recently to honor two of its most dominant athletic programs, the girls varsity volleyball and field hockey squads, each of which captured a championship this season. The volleyball team secured the Division I state title, while the field hockey side clinched the Sunset League crown, marking a remarkable double for the school.
During a special Community Time assembly, players from both teams were presented with championship rings, a tangible reminder of the hard work that defined their campaigns. The ceremony underscored not only athletic achievement but also the personal growth and camaraderie that accompanied the victories.

Libero Mattea Pisani, a sophomore, reflected on the journey that led to the state championship, noting that the triumph had been “a long time coming.” She highlighted the team’s evolution over the year and the obstacles they overcame to reach the pinnacle.
Middle blocker Ruby Sampson described the moment as “surreal,” adding that the championship felt especially resonant given the extensive preparation and recent coaching changes. Her comments captured the mixture of disbelief and pride that many teammates shared.
Field hockey midfielder Margaux Schlumberger emphasized the role of chemistry in their success, stating that the squad’s strong bond and mutual affection made the experience “enjoyable” and rewarding.
