Two incoming Michigan State freshmen have earned spots on the USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team, a selection that places them among the nation’s most promising prospects as they prepare for the 2026 FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup in Leon, Mexico.
The American squad, placed in Group A alongside Argentina, Mexico and Brazil, is chasing its eighth consecutive gold medal, a streak that underscores the program’s sustained dominance on the international stage.
Jasiah Jervis, a 6‑foot‑4 guard ranked No. 31 in the 2026 recruiting class, brings a sharp shooting touch and poise under pressure, while 7‑foot center Ethan Taylor, the No. 38 recruit, adds size and interior presence that could reshape the team’s dynamics.
A Recruiting Class With Depth
Both players were part of a four‑member recruiting class that head coach Tom Izzo signed, a class that also includes forward Anthony Grant and big man Julius Avent, each of whom brings a distinct skill set to the Spartans’ roster.
At Michigan State, Jervis is expected to compete for minutes at shooting guard, while Taylor will join a center rotation that features Jesse McCulloch and Anton Bonke, a blend of experience and youthful energy that could prove pivotal in the upcoming season.
Aiming for Another Gold
The upcoming AmeriCup will test the duo against seasoned international opponents, and their performance could influence not only their own draft trajectories but also the broader narrative of American basketball development.
