Cal Bears gear up for demanding 2026‑27 ACC basketball slate

Home clashes with powerhouse teams and a road test against national contenders define the upcoming season

The University of California, Berkeley, has unveiled its 2026‑27 Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball schedule, a slate that pits the Bears against a mix of traditional rivals and elite programs.

A demanding conference slate

Cal will host three NCAA tournament teams — North Carolina State, Virginia and Miami — while also welcoming Boston College, Florida State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest to the Haas Pavilion.

The road portion of the schedule takes the Bears to some of the nation’s most storied venues, including Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium, the University of North Carolina’s Dean Smith Center and Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center, as well as Clemson, Notre Dame, Pitt and SMU.

The Bears are coming off a 22‑12 season that delivered a National Invitational Tournament berth, the most wins for the program since 2016, and only one starter, Lee Dort, returns from that squad, with head coach Mark Madsen having added five transfers to the roster.

Early indications suggest strong fan interest, with a sellout crowd expected for the home game against Duke and a notable attendance figure for the subsequent matchup with North Carolina.
