Wando High School Girls' Soccer Secures 2026 State Championship
The 2026 South Carolina High School League AAAAA Division I girls' soccer final ended in dramatic fashion as Wando High School edged J.L. Mann in a penalty shootout, sealing a 2‑1 victory after a scoreless regulation and overtime.
Kiera Jeffries opened the scoring in the first overtime period, while Avery Setters added the decisive strike in the fourth round of penalties. Goaltender Madeline Sheppard, thrust into the starting role after an injury to the regular keeper, delivered a clutch save that secured the win.
A Milestone for the Program
Head coach Shannon Champ, who now boasts ten state titles with the program, celebrated the achievement as the team claimed its 14th overall championship, the first since 2023. The victory underscores the consistency of a program that has become a benchmark in state soccer.
The roster also featured standouts such as Camryn Carras, Reagan Smith and others, while assistant coaches Tony Paciotty, Emma Fellowes and Nina Perry played key supportive roles. The win has sparked excitement across the school and local community as they look ahead to next season.
