A Homecoming for a Matadors Legend
Marcus Limon has been appointed head baseball coach for Estacado High School’s 2026‑2027 program, a move that reunites the alum with the school where he once starred as a quarterback and a baseball standout.
Limon’s playing résumé includes All‑American honors and the Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year award at Wayland Baptist University, followed by a professional signing with the Minnesota Twins organization.
Before taking the reins at Estacado, he honed his coaching craft across several West Texas districts, serving as a mentor in Brownfield ISD, Frenship ISD, Wellman‑Union ISD and Midland ISD.
Mike Meeks, Lubbock ISD Executive Director of Athletics, praised Limon’s passion for student‑athletes and his deep baseball knowledge, while Principal Angelica Wilbanks highlighted his grasp of the school’s pride and tradition.
Limon, a father of five, expressed excitement about returning to his alma mater and building relationships that will help the Matadors become a competitive force in the coming seasons.
With preparations already underway for the 2026‑27 school year, the new coach will guide both football and baseball squads as they gear up for upcoming campaigns.
