Former Brainerd Warrior and current professional hockey player Mitch McLain is set to host a charity hockey game on July 18 at the Essentia Health Sports Center in Brainerd, Minnesota. The matchup will bring together NHL and AHL talent for a day of competition and community giving.
A Game for a Cause
The game is organized by the Be Next McLain Family Foundation, a nonprofit created by McLain to support local youth through education. Proceeds from ticket sales will be directed toward a scholarship program that assists students pursuing post‑secondary opportunities.
Organizers have scheduled the event from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering fans a full afternoon of hockey action. In addition to the on‑ice competition, the day will feature appearances by former Henderson Silver Knights award winners and community leaders.
McLain recently received the Man of the Year honor from the Henderson Silver Knights for his extensive charitable work in Las Vegas, a recognition that underscores his commitment to giving back beyond the rink. His foundation’s efforts now extend that impact to a national audience.
