On June 4, the University of South Carolina‑Upstate will open its doors to high school girls eager to try flag football, in a collaboration that brings together the campus athletics department, the Carolina Panthers and USA Football.
The free showcase, limited to 150 participants, welcomes girls entering grades nine through twelve, regardless of prior experience, and each registrant will receive a commemorative t‑shirt.
Head Coach Noah Harris will guide the day’s instruction, overseeing drills and 5‑on‑5 scrimmages while scouting talent for the upcoming varsity roster.
Looking Ahead to Varsity Status
The event marks a pivotal moment for the university’s athletic program, as USC Upstate plans to elevate women's flag football to varsity status for the 2026‑27 academic year, signaling a commitment to expanding opportunities for female athletes.
Beyond the immediate clinic, the initiative reflects a broader push to diversify collegiate athletics and provide new pathways for young women to engage with the sport at a competitive level.
Registration remains open, and interested participants can secure their spot through the university’s athletics portal, where additional details about the schedule and logistics are available.
