Veteran coach brings two decades of collegiate experience to the Huskies

A Fresh Coaching Direction for the Huskies

St. Cloud State University announced the addition of Sean Steele to its women's soccer coaching staff, appointing him as an assistant coach ahead of the upcoming season.

Steele arrives with more than twenty years of collegiate experience, having most recently served as an assistant and associate head coach at Fresno State for twelve seasons.

During his tenure in Fresno, he helped guide the Bulldogs to five Mountain West Tournament appearances and a runner‑up finish in 2021, while also mentoring players who earned all‑conference honors.

Prior to Fresno State, Steele headed both the men's and women's programs at Nebraska Wesleyan, where he compiled winning records and developed competitive squads.

His coaching journey began at the University of Wisconsin‑Oshkosh, where he served as an assistant from 2006 to 2010 and contributed to winning campaigns for both the men's and women's teams.

The Huskies finished the previous season with an 11‑1‑3 record in the NSIC and a 16‑3‑5 overall mark, reaching the conference championship and the NCAA Division II Central Region final under former head coach Gretta Macdonald.

Athletic Director Maggie Sherman expressed confidence that Steele's pedigree will bolster recruiting and on‑field development, stating that his arrival aligns with the program's upward trajectory.

Head Coach Mick Hatten welcomed Steele, highlighting his ability to bring a winning culture and strategic insight to the team.

Steele himself said he is excited to join the Huskies and contribute to a program that is already making strides at the national level.
