Pittsburgh Hardball Academy Honors City League Baseball and Softball Stars

All‑City Awards celebrate top athletes from across the city, highlighting achievements on and off the field

The Pittsburgh Hardball Academy is set to honor the standout baseball and softball players of the City League, recognizing their performances on the diamond, in the classroom, and within their communities.

A Citywide Celebration

Now in its third year, the All‑City Awards ceremony will take place at the Academy’s Training and Education Center in Shadyside, bringing together families, coaches, and local leaders for a night of well‑deserved accolades.

For the first time, softball student‑athletes from Perry and Westinghouse will be included alongside the traditional baseball honorees, expanding the reach of the program across the city’s diverse schools.

Award selections are based on a combination of regular‑season statistics and input from coaches, ensuring that both athletic excellence and leadership are celebrated.

Baseball honors will be bestowed upon players from Allderdice, Brashear, Carrick, Obama Academy, Perry, and Westinghouse, while softball awardees hail from Carrick, Obama Academy, and Allderdice.

Obama Academy captured the City League baseball regular‑season title with an immaculate 8‑0 record, capping the campaign with a playoff championship victory over Brashear on May 11 at Greenway Field in Sheridan.

Despite the triumph, the team’s season concluded with a 6‑1 loss to District 6 powerhouse Bellefonte in a PIAA Class 4A subdivisional matchup, a result that underscores the competitive depth of high school baseball in the region.

Carrick similarly dominated the softball regular season, finishing undefeated at 10‑0 and securing the league crown with a playoff win over Allderdice on May 18 at Volunteer Field.

The Carrick squad’s run ended in the PIAA Class 4A regional championship at Firehouse Field at South Side Park, where they fell to Bellefonte, ending a remarkable season for the city’s softball leaders.

Beyond the scores, the All‑City Awards highlight the academic achievements and community service of each honoree, reinforcing the Academy’s mission to develop well‑rounded student‑athletes.
