Rain‑Driven Schedule Change
The Hattiesburg Regional of the NCAA baseball tournament will open on May 29 with a notable adjustment to its first game.
A forecast of rain prompted organizers to move the opening contest forward, with first‑pitch now scheduled for noon rather than the originally planned later slot.
Fans will be able to enter the venue starting at 10 a.m., giving them ample time to settle in before the action begins.
The No. 1 seed Golden Eagles, finishing the regular season at 44‑15, will square off against the No. 4 seed Trojans, who finished 36‑26, in the first matchup of the regional.
Both teams bring contrasting records into the contest, setting the stage for a competitive start to the tournament.
Later in the day, the second game of the regional will proceed as planned, featuring Virginia (36‑21) against Jacksonville State (46‑13) with a 6 p.m. kickoff.
The schedule for May 30 remains untouched, ensuring that the remainder of the regional proceeds without further disruptions.
Following the conclusion of the May 29 games, the two losing teams will meet at 3 p.m., while the two victorious sides will reconvene at 8 p.m. to continue the bracket play.
