The latest round of the Minnesota high school baseball tournament saw two local powerhouses punch their tickets to the semifinals.
Duluth Marshall, representing the city of Duluth, rolled past Pequot Lakes with an 8‑0 victory that added to its unbeaten stretch in the tournament, now standing at three games without a run allowed.
Alden Marsolek was the pitcher of record, delivering a flawless outing that kept the shutout streak alive.
Meanwhile, Cloquet edged Hermantown 3‑1, with Quinn Waters delivering a two‑RBI single in the later innings and Bo Harriman closing out the game to preserve the win.
Semifinals on the Horizon
Marshall will meet Aitkin on Tuesday, June 2, while Cloquet is set to face Grand Rapids on Saturday, May 30, setting up a pair of weekend showdowns.
Hermantown, still in contention, is scheduled to play Hibbing on the same May 30 date, a match that could keep their season alive.
