Ben Van Wyngarden, a senior at Pella Christian, has officially signed his national letter of intent to continue both his academic and athletic career at Dordt University.
A Two‑Year Varsity Journey
During his two seasons on the varsity roster, Van Wyngarden appeared in 49 games, starting 36 of them, and compiled 199 points while also grabbing 106 rebounds, dishing out 109 assists, stealing 74 balls and blocking 12 shots.
In the most recent campaign he averaged 5.6 points, 3.1 assists and three rebounds per game, numbers that placed him among the team’s leading contributors.
Beyond scoring, he anchored the defense, leading the squad with 1.8 steals per game and routinely tasked with neutralizing opponents’ top scorers.
Looking Ahead to the Defenders
The Defenders, who finished the previous season with a 16‑13 record, will welcome Van Wyngarden into a program eager to build on that foundation. His blend of playmaking, defensive intensity and work ethic is expected to add depth and versatility as the team aims for a stronger campaign.
