Regional brackets set for high school baseball playoffs
The Colorado High School Activities Association has just announced the brackets for the 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A Baseball Regional Tournaments, laying out a schedule that will see eight regionals in each classification and a total of 32 teams competing across the state.
In a move aimed at preserving competitive balance, the association tweaked the draw to steer clear of potential league matchups and to accommodate geographical realities, ensuring that teams travel reasonable distances while maintaining a fair spread of talent.
League champions in each division are guaranteed a spot in the postseason, while the remaining places are allocated to the highest‑seeded squads according to the CHSAA’s Seeding and Selection Index, a data‑driven ranking that orders teams before the brackets are finalized.
The index also determines which schools serve as regional hosts, with the top eight seeds in every classification earning that responsibility and the honor of opening the tournament on their home fields.
Streaming incentive and fee waiver
The fee‑waiver program underscores the association’s effort to blend tradition with technology, giving schools a financial incentive to broadcast their games on the popular GameChanger platform and broaden fan access across the state.
