A thief walked out of TopBinz Football Shirts in Bristol with nearly £2,000 worth of vintage England jerseys, each bearing the autograph of a national icon.
Police appeal for information
The stolen collection featured replicas from the 1988 and 1996 tournaments, emblazoned with the names of Alan Shearer, Paul Gascoigne and Tony Adams, symbols of a generation that still inspires fans.
The breach occurred just after 15:15 BST on Tuesday, when the perpetrator slipped in behind another shopper and seized eight of the most valuable items before fleeing toward Montpelier Train Station.
Witnesses described the suspect as a white man, about six feet tall, of medium build and sporting a short beard, who vanished down the railway tracks shortly after the theft.
Owner of the boutique described the loss as a ‘gut punch’, noting that the shop had opened only months earlier and that the haul arrived at a time when the world’s eyes are turning toward the upcoming World Cup.
Avon and Somerset Police and the British Transport Police have urged anyone who may have been offered a shirt matching the description to come forward, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing.
The incident underscores the growing value of football memorabilia and the vulnerability of small‑scale collectors’ shops in urban centres.
