A Strategic Boost for the Great Danes
The University at Albany’s men’s basketball program has announced the addition of two new players for the upcoming 2026‑27 season, center Kean Webb and guard Moustapha Ndao. Their signings bring the total number of incoming athletes to eleven, a mix of transfers and international prospects representing eight different nations.
Webb, a 6‑foot‑11 Utah native, arrives after stints at Portland State and San Diego. He missed much of the previous campaign because of a foot injury, seeing only 25 minutes of action across four games at Portland State. Despite the limited minutes, the freshman averaged 3.2 points and 2.2 rebounds, and he has spoken about his desire to make a defensive impact and dominate both ends of the floor.
Ndao, 21, brings a global résumé. Born to Senegalese parents and raised in Qatar, he has played for Al Ahli in the Qatar Basketball League and represented his country at youth and senior levels. Before returning to the Middle East, he spent a brief period in Ohio competing in high school basketball, giving him a unique blend of overseas and American experience.
The influx of talent reflects a deliberate effort to diversify the roster and inject fresh competitiveness into the Great Danes’ lineup. With athletes hailing from continents as far apart as North America, Europe and Africa, the coaching staff hopes the new faces will elevate the team’s depth and style of play.
Both Webb and Ndao are expected to join preseason practices in the fall, where they will vie for minutes alongside returning veterans. Their arrivals underscore the program’s ambition to contend in the America East Conference and to attract top talent from around the world.
