Brandon Spikes Exits Florida Football Program as Staff Reorganizes

Former Gator star turns focus to an MBA after a decade-long playing career

A New Chapter Off the Field

Brandon Spikes, once a cornerstone of Florida’s defense from 2006 to 2009, is no longer part of the university’s football operations. The school announced a restructuring of its GatorMade staff, prompting Spikes to step away from his role as assistant director of player development.

During his collegiate career he earned consensus All‑American honors twice and was a three‑time first‑team All‑SEC selection. He helped the Gators capture two national championships and multiple SEC titles, finishing with 307 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and six interceptions, four of which he returned for touchdowns.

After being drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft, he spent seven professional seasons with the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills, culminating in a start in Super Bowl XLVI with the Patriots. Following his retirement, Spikes returned to Gainesville to complete his undergraduate degree before enrolling in the Warrington College of Business to pursue an MBA.

His recent inclusion in the SEC Legends class last October underscores the lasting impact of a player who helped define a storied era for the Gators.
