Sis Paulsen to Join University of Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Fame

Celebrating a pioneering player and influential equipment manager

The University of Wisconsin announced that Sis Paulsen, a former North High School star and UW women's hockey standout, will be enshrined in its Athletics Hall of Fame during a special ceremony this fall.

Early Life and High School Pioneering

Growing up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Paulsen made history as the first female to join the North High School hockey roster, paving the way for future generations of women in the sport.

At the University of Wisconsin she served as team captain from 2001 to 2003 and earned First‑Team All‑WCHA honors in 2000, while ranking second in school history among defensemen with 130 career points.

Post‑Playing Impact

After hanging up her skates, Paulsen transitioned to equipment management and quickly became a three‑time national champion with Wisconsin's women's hockey program, a role that also led her to oversee gear for the 2022 and 2026 U.S. Olympic Women's Hockey teams.

She was a key member of the inaugural two PWHL championship squads as the Minnesota Frost's equipment manager, further cementing her reputation as a behind‑the‑scenes powerhouse.

Hall of Fame Recognition and Upcoming Induction

Paulsen's contributions were recognized earlier this year when she was elected to the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame, and the university will honor the 2026 induction class during Hall of Fame weekend on September 18‑19.

Inductees will be celebrated inside Camp Randall Stadium as part of the Wisconsin Football game against Eastern Michigan on September 19 at 11:30 a.m. CT, bringing together the campus community to applaud her legacy.
