A Boost for the Spartans
USC Upstate announced Tuesday that David Tubek will join the program as part of its 2026‑27 signing class, adding a versatile forward with a proven defensive pedigree.
The 6‑7 transfer comes to Spartanburg after spending the 2025‑26 season at UTEP, where he appeared in 12 games and posted a season‑high 14 points against Western New Mexico, averaging 3.3 points per contest.
Before his Texas stint, Tubek refined his game at Seton Hall, logging 41 appearances and starting two contests, while establishing himself as a reliable rim protector known for clogging passing lanes and guarding the paint.
His high school career at Dream City Christian in Arizona saw him average 16.8 points and 9.8 rebounds, shooting 43.5 percent from three‑point range, earning him a three‑star rating and a spot with the New Jersey Scholars AAU program.
Coach’s Vision for the Future
Head Coach Marty Richter expressed enthusiasm about the addition, stating that Tubek’s size, skill set and physicality will strengthen the team both on and off the court, and that he expects the forward to make an immediate impact in the Big South and beyond.
Tubek himself said he is eager to contribute to the culture of Upstate basketball, aiming to help the Spartans compete for success at the conference and national level.
