Curacao’s World Cup Squad Brings Free Training Session to Boca Raton

The island nation’s historic preparation continues with a public practice at Florida Atlantic University ahead of its opening match against Germany

A Tiny Nation’s Big Soccer Dream

Curacao, a Caribbean island with just 156,000 residents and 171 square miles of territory, has made history by becoming the smallest nation by population and land mass ever to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. The team is currently training at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton as part of its preparation for the 2026 tournament, with its first match scheduled against Germany in Houston on June 14.

On June 11, the squad will open its doors to the public for a complimentary training session at the Owls' on‑campus football stadium. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., and the session will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., giving the first 5,000 fans in attendance a chance to watch the players up close. Food and drink will be available throughout the event.

Admission and parking are both free, but tickets are limited and must be secured in advance. Fans can RSVP for tickets by visiting fausports.com/form/2195, where tickets will be distributed prior to the event and required at the gate for entry.

This appearance marks the only scheduled public session during the team’s stay in Boca Raton, underscoring the island’s growing presence on the international soccer stage. The training session not only showcases the players’ preparation but also highlights the significance of Curacao’s achievement as a nation of just over 150,000 people competing on the world’s biggest football stage.
