Cambridge Rindge and Latin Sports Teams Show Mixed Fortunes Across Seasons

Baseball streaks, track triumphs, and lacrosse setbacks define a busy week for the Crimson

The Cambridge Rindge and Latin School baseball squad has turned a promising start into a five‑game winning streak, underscoring the team’s depth and resilience.

Jasen Thomas delivered a complete‑game shutout against Westford Academy, while Stefan Alexandrov’s walkoff sacrifice fly secured a narrow victory over Weston. Oliver Henke, batting .475 with an OPS of 1.087, has become a cornerstone of the lineup.

Softball’s Mixed Results

The softball team navigated a challenging week, dropping games to Newton South and Westford Academy before rebounding with a win over Boston Latin. Pitcher Marin Albrecht threw a complete game against Newton South, striking out six, while Bella Wilkins and Mariana Jimenez contributed key hits.

Track and field events saw the boys’ team defeat Boston Latin but fall to Newton South, with Jermaine Houston capturing both the 100‑meter and 200‑meter dashes. The girls’ squad mirrored the pattern, edging past Boston Latin before a loss to Newton South, highlighted by Sophia Juanes Seto’s two‑mile triumph and a first‑place finish for the 4×400‑meter relay team.

Lacrosse and Volleyball Setbacks

Both lacrosse programs faced defeats, the boys losing to Waltham, Weston and Arlington Catholic, and the girls falling to Waltham, Arlington Catholic and Boston Latin. Goalkeeper Owen Goldstein’s performances kept the boys competitive despite the losses.

The boys’ volleyball team split its recent matches, falling to Milford but defeating Newton North, where Brennan Loud recorded 22 kills and 20 digs. The tennis squads also endured defeats against Weston, Westford Academy and Boston Latin Academy.
