A New Chapter for the Purple Raiders
Emily Taylor has been named the new head coach of the Mount Union women's basketball team, taking over from Suzy Venet, who retired after two decades of service.
Taylor arrives after a stint as an assistant at John Carroll, where she helped guide the team to a Sweet 16 appearance and contributed to the 2013‑14 Ohio Athletic Conference regular‑season championship and NCAA Tournament berth.
Legacy and Vision
Having played on championship teams at John Carroll in 2013‑14, Taylor brings firsthand experience of the program’s standards. She now intends to build on that foundation, emphasizing development of student‑athletes both on and off the court.
Mount Union athletic director Mike Parnell praised Taylor’s deep knowledge of the Ohio Athletic Conference and her proven ability to recruit and scout at the national and international level, noting that her background at Merrimack prepared her for the challenges ahead.
At Merrimack, Taylor oversaw recruiting and scouting across the United States and abroad, a skill set she plans to leverage as she shapes the next era of Purple Raiders basketball.
