Regional Triumph
Nebraska’s baseball team, currently holding the No. 20 spot in the national polls, posted a 4-1 win over South Dakota State in a tightly contested regional matchup on Tuesday night.
Right-hander Carson Jasa took the mound and delivered a solid outing, working 6.1 innings while surrendering just five hits and striking out eight batters.
Closer J’Shawn Unger finished the game with a perfect ninth, retiring all seven batters he faced and recording his 13th save of the season.
The Huskers’ offense came alive early, with Dylan Carey and Jett Buck each launching solo home runs that helped stake Jasa to a comfortable lead.
Coach Will Bolt praised Jasa’s growth, noting that the young pitcher’s command and poise have been evident throughout the year.
Attendance at the venue topped 7,800, and Jasa said the energy from the crowd gave the team "a lot of juice" during his start.
Nebraska will now await the winner of the Ole Miss versus Arizona State game, a potential showdown that could determine the next opponent in the regional bracket.
At 10-2, Jasa continues to anchor the rotation, and his ability to shut down opposing lineups has been a key factor in the team’s recent surge.
