Season‑ending standings across all classes highlight top teams and note Sewickley Academy's exit

WPIAL Announces Final Weekly Baseball Rankings

The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League has now finalized seeding for the upcoming baseball playoffs, a step that prepares the bracket for the postseason. While seeding determines a team’s placement in the draw, ranking reflects its overall standing, and the league has made clear that the two processes serve different purposes. Today's release represents the last weekly rankings of the 2026 season, giving fans a final snapshot before the tournament begins.

In the highest division, Class 6A, the top contenders are Butler, Canon‑McMillan, North Allegheny, Norwin and Mt. Lebanon, each carrying strong records that have kept them at the forefront of the standings. Dropping down a class, the 5A leaders include Pine‑Richland, Latrobe, Plum, Thomas Jefferson and Moon, while the 4A field is dominated by Indiana, Beaver, Elizabeth Forward, Valley and Belle Vernon. In Class 3A, Avonworth, Seton LaSalle, Ellwood City, Freeport and South Park round out the top spots, and the 2A leaders feature Fort Cherry, Neshannock, South Side, Riverview and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.

The 1A rankings are led by Eden Christian Academy, Greensburg Central Catholic, Serra Catholic, Western Beaver and Avella. One notable omission from the Class A list is Sewickley Academy, which has fallen out of the rankings despite a competitive season.
