Nick Garritano, a former UNLV athlete and Hall of Famer, has been appointed head coach of the UNLV baseball program, marking a homecoming that blends his playing legacy with a proven coaching record.
A Proven Champion
During his 16‑year tenure at the College of Southern Nevada, Garritano compiled a 632‑271 record, captured multiple national championships and guided the Coyotes to two NJCAA World Series appearances. Under his leadership the team produced 22 MLB Draft selections, eight NJCAA All‑Americans and maintained a cumulative GPA above 3.0, underscoring his commitment to both athletic and academic excellence.
Community Connection
UNLV Athletics Director Erick Harper praised Garritano’s deep community ties, noting that his success at CSN and his roots in Las Vegas make him the ideal leader to elevate the program. Harper highlighted Garritano’s ability to foster relationships with local high schools, donors and fans.
Family and Future
Garritano and his wife, Camille, have a son, Nicky, and a daughter, Ava, who will continue to be part of the Rebels’ extended family. He emphasized that academic achievement will remain a cornerstone of the program, promising a culture where championships and classroom success go hand in hand.
Looking Ahead
Excited to return to the campus where he once played football, Garritano outlined a vision that includes strengthening recruiting pipelines, expanding player development and preserving the winning tradition that defined his CSN years.
