University of Northern Colorado Announces 2026 Football Themed Game Days at Nottingham Field

Six home games feature community celebrations, night games, and sponsor‑driven events

The University of Northern Colorado football team will host themed days at its six home games at Nottingham Field in 2026, kicking off with a night game against Weber State on Aug. 28. The season opener, scheduled for 7 p.m., will be the first-ever night game at the stadium, made possible by a $1.6 million privately funded lighting project completed earlier this month.

Four of the first five games will be played at home through late September, giving fans a packed early stretch of matches. The schedule highlights a series of community‑focused events, including City of Greeley Day for the Weber State game, Kids Day against South Dakota State on Sept. 5, and Latinx Heritage Day for the Northeastern State contest on Sept. 19, which is sponsored by Banner Health.

Special Events and Sponsorships

The themed weekends continue with homecoming weekend on Sept. 26 when Utah Tech visits, a game sponsored by Bank of Colorado, and Military Appreciation Day on Oct. 17 against Cal Poly, honoring service members and inducting new members into the UNC Athletics Hall of Fame. The final regular‑season home game on Nov. 14 will be Senior Day against Montana State, the defending FCS champion, sponsored by Pepsi.

These events underscore the strong partnership between UNC Athletics and the surrounding community, with local governments, health systems, and regional businesses collaborating to enrich the fan experience. The university’s schedule reflects a commitment to celebrating diverse audiences while maintaining a competitive nonconference slate that includes opponents from the Big Sky Conference and other divisions.
