Greek Forward Alexandros Samodurov Commits to UNC

EuroLeague standout brings size, skill and international experience to Chapel Hill

A Greek Presence in Chapel Hill

Alexandros Samodurov, the 6‑11 Greek forward who weighs 212 pounds, has officially pledged to the University of North Carolina, bringing a blend of size and skill to Chapel Hill after a distinguished run with Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague.

At 21, Samodurov arrives after a standout showing in the 2025 FIBA Eurobasket U20 tournament, where he averaged 17.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 blocks per game, a performance that earned him a place on the All‑Star Five.

Coach Hubert Davis is expected to pair him with Sayon Keita, sharing minutes and giving the duo flexibility at the stretch‑4 position, while also opening the floor for other newcomers such as Cade Bennerman and Jarin Stevenson.

The roster will also feature returning players Isaiah Denis and Jaydon Young, plus transfers Neoklis Avdalas, Matt Able and Terrence Brown, while freshmen Maximo Adams and Malloy Smith add depth to the frontcourt.

With this mix of experience and youthful talent, the Tar Heels hope to solidify a frontcourt that can compete nationally, and Samodurov’s EuroLeague pedigree from Panathinaikos is seen as a key ingredient in the team’s outlook for next season.
