Carrboro Girls Soccer Secures 4A State Championship

A 1-0 victory over Hibriten caps a historic 22-1-3 season and delivers the program’s sixth title.

The Carrboro High School girls soccer team captured the North Carolina 4A state championship on May 30, 2026, edging Hibriten 1-0 in a tightly contested final held in Durham.

A Moment of Glory

The decisive strike arrived in the 11th minute when Amaliie Reyes received a perfectly weighted pass from Ali Stuntebeck and slipped the ball past the Hibriten goalkeeper, delivering the only goal of the match.

Stuntebeck’s influence extended beyond the assist; she finished the tournament with six shots, three on target, earning her the tournament’s Most Valuable Player honor.

Carrboro’s dominance was evident throughout the game, outshot Hibriten 21 to 2 and controlled possession for the majority of the contest.

The victory secured the program’s sixth state title, joining championships earned in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019, and marked the team’s first crown in seven years.

Finishing the season with a record of 22-1-3, the Jaguars concluded a campaign that saw them dominate the East regional bracket, while Hibriten, the West regional champion, closed at 21-3-2 after a valiant effort.

Both squads honored the spirit of sportsmanship, naming Bryana Giron of Hibriten and Annabel Orr of Carrboro as the respective award recipients.
