A new face in the 49ers' staff
Dalmar Ali has been appointed as the Men’s Basketball Recruiting Coordinator at the University of Charlotte, a move that adds a seasoned recruiter to the program’s staff.
Ali’s recruiting pedigree was forged at Long Island University, where he progressed from Director of Basketball Operations to assistant coach and helped the program capture both the regular‑season and tournament titles in the Northeast Conference, earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
During his tenure at LIU, Ali played a pivotal role in attracting and developing Canadian prospects, a talent pool that has become a hallmark of his recruiting strategy.
Prior to LIU, he served as a graduate assistant under Leonard Hamilton at Florida State, contributing to scouting, player development and analytics for a program that consistently competes at the national level.
Ali also spent the 2020‑21 season at Tallahassee Community College, guiding the team to a Panhandle Conference championship and helping six of his players secure Division I scholarships.
In addition to his new Charlotte role, Ali continues to serve as head coach of the Somali Men’s National Team, balancing international duties with his responsibilities in the Tar Heel State.
He will work alongside Marcus Paige, Claude Pardue, Brian Boyle, Trent Brown and Chad Dollar, forming a diverse coaching cohort that aims to elevate the program’s competitiveness.
