Bear Lake Baseball Repeats as District Champions

A 5-0 victory over Frankfort propels the Bears toward the next round of play

Bear Lake's Consecutive Dominance

The Bear Lake baseball squad captured its second straight district title on Thursday, defeating Frankfort 5-0 to improve to 16-10 on the season. The win marks the fourth district championship in the past five years for a program that has become a fixture in Michigan’s postseason.

Offensive spark came from Grady Harless, who contributed two hits and two RBIs, while Myles Harless dominated on the mound, tossing 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball, scattering five hits and striking out 13 batters.

With the victory, Bear Lake now heads to the Regional 53 semifinal, where they will meet Maple City Glen Lake in a clash of the north‑west’s top teams.

Frankfort’s campaign closed at 21-9. The Panthers saw Rylan Lewis finish with two hits in his final appearance, and Carson Gillison deliver five innings of work, allowing just two earned runs while fanning ten opponents.

The Panthers also said goodbye to three seniors — Evans, Lewis and Carrella — while coach Mike Zimmerman guided Frankfort to an outright Northwest Conference championship and an 11-1 conference record.

What’s Next for the Bears

The Bears’ blend of power hitting and relentless pitching positions them as a formidable contender in the upcoming semifinal. Fans will be watching closely as the team looks to extend its recent run of success.
