Indiana’s men’s basketball team once again topped the Big Ten in average attendance, drawing 15,677 spectators per game across 18 home dates at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall during the 2025‑26 season. The figure represents a modest dip of 4.8 percent from the previous year’s 16,477‑fan average, yet it still kept the Hoosiers ahead of every other conference rival.
A Legacy of Attendance Excellence
The program’s dominance is not a recent phenomenon. Since the 1971‑72 campaign, Indiana has led the Big Ten in attendance 26 times and cracked the national top‑10 on 42 occasions. The 2012‑13 season remains the high‑water mark, when the team averaged 17,412 fans per game, the highest single‑season figure in school history.
Nationally, the Hoosiers sit ninth in average attendance and sixth in cumulative attendance, with 282,193 fans recorded over the season, down slightly from 296,046 a year earlier. The last season in which the Hoosiers failed to claim the conference lead was 2021‑22, when Wisconsin edged them out with an average of 16,505 fans per game, compared with Indiana’s 15,845.
On the women’s side, the Lady Hoosiers attracted 7,866 fans per game, placing them ninth nationally. Their 2023‑24 campaign saw a spike to 10,828 average attendees, underscoring growing interest across both programs.
Looking Ahead
With recruiting classes in flux and coaching staffs adapting, the Hoosiers aim to translate their storied fan support into on‑court success, hoping to reclaim the national spotlight.
