The Texas Longhorns, the No. 1 seed in the Austin Regional, rolled past No. 3 seed Tarleton State 16-2 on Friday night, a victory that featured five home runs and cemented their place in the regional final.
The win was more than a score; it was a display of patience and power. Texas logged a season-high 17 walks and erupted for 35 runs across two regional games, outscoring their opponents 35-3.
On the mound, Dylan Volantis delivered 6 ⅔ innings of work, striking out seven batters and helping the staff eclipse a 41-year-old single-season strikeout record that now stands at 619.
A night of power and precision
The offensive onslaught was led by Aiden Robbins, whose 443-foot three-run homer marked his team-leading 22nd of the year, while Carson Tinney added a 426-foot blast, his 21st of the season and one of the most storied shots in school history. Anthony Pack Jr. contributed an opposite-field homer, his fourth in five NCAA Tournament at-bats, and Ethan Mendoza and Adrian Rodriguez each supplied solo shots.
The Longhorns also notched three consecutive homers for the first time since May 1, 2022, a feat that underscored the depth of their lineup. Their historic pedigree shone through as the team improved to 155-60-1 all-time in regional play, including a 112-33-1 record at Disch-Falk Field.
Looking ahead, Texas will meet the winner of the Santa Barbara Gauchos and the Texans on Sunday, a matchup that promises another test of the momentum they have built.
