Justin Reynolds, a 24-year-old defender for Sporting Kansas City, has earned his first senior call-up to the United States Under-21 Men’s National Team, joining a training camp that will run from June 1 to June 9 in Slovenia.
A Call-Up with History
Reynolds previously represented the United States at the Under-15 and Under-19 levels, including an appearance at the 2019 Concacaf Boys’ Under-15 Championship. His professional journey now counts 86 senior matches across MLS, MLS NEXT Pro and a loan spell in the Swiss Super League with FC Lugano.
The milestone is especially significant because it marks the first time since July 2022 that Reynolds has been summoned to a youth national team, highlighting his steady rise and the confidence placed in him by U.S. Soccer.
Training Camp in Slovenia
The camp, held in the town of Rogaska Slatina, will culminate in two competitive fixtures: a match against Ukraine on June 5 and a clash with Uzbekistan on June 8. The schedule offers the young U.S. side a chance to test its tactics against two formidable opponents in a short, intense window.
U.S. Soccer has framed the camp as part of its broader preparation for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, using the FIFA international match window to evaluate emerging talent for the future Olympic roster.
Reynolds signed with Sporting Kansas City in a trade that brought him from Chicago Fire FC ahead of the 2026 season. Since arriving in Kansas City he has appeared in nine matches across all competitions, quickly becoming a regular presence in the back line.
He joins two fellow SKC teammates — Zorhan Bassong with Canada and Or Blorian with Israel — who are also participating in the same FIFA international match window, underscoring the club’s growing influence on the global stage.
